“Au soullàlle – Être de la boune afaere”
Late May and quite possibly the warmest day of the year so far. The thermometer in our garden read a very respectable thirty four degrees.
Our guests were certainly making the most of the early Summer weather.
From our back garden Krysia and I could hear the children enjoying themselves in our pool. We were sat under the shade of one of our garden parasol catching up on a couple of books. Krysia was deep in the final few pages of Death In Le Jardin by one of our favourite authors and friend Ian Moore. Ian has a new novel out entitled Death and Boules which we will also be looking forward to. I stretched out on our garden sofa resting my book on my chest.
Eurasian Blue Tit, a couple of blackbirds and Chaffinch a pair of Robins and a wood pigeon were detected on the Merlin app. It is really quite amazing how many different species of wild bird life we have in our unspoiled region. (Thank you to Laura for introducing us to it!)
I noticed a red squirrel scaling the evergreen before pausing – well camouflaged by the dense pine covered branches. Hirondelles soared high above us in the clearest of blue skies we had seen in a while.
Our new guests had just pulled into our gravel driveway so we went to greet them. A genuinely lovely couple who had driven many kilometres in their Ferrari – one of 500 Ferrari vehicles taking part at the Val de la Vienne located at Le Vigeant.
An annual motor vehicle charity event raising funds supporting cancer research in partnership with the University Hospital of Poitiers which began in 1995.
Since then 6.6 million euros has been collected through donations.
This year The 2025 edition of Sport and Collection – 500 Ferraris against cancer brought together a set of more than 1,300 vehicles; combining modern supercars, classic cars and competition cars.
Tourist rallies, charity track donations, motor racing personalities, aerial demonstrations by the French armée de l’air all add up to a very impressive weekend of events. All in the cause of charity.
All in all quite an exciting start to Summer.
À votre santé! ❤️🍷🍷🇫🇷🇪🇺❤️
